1. What is Earthquakes ?

ANS - Any sudden distrubence below the Earth's surface may produce vibrations or shaking in Earth's crust and some of these vibrations,when reach the surface,are known as Earthquakes.

- The magnitude of an earthquake is measured by Richter Scale.

- The intensity of earthquake waves is recorded by Selsmograph.

- Intensity of shaking is measured on the modified Mercalli Scale.

- Focus is the point beneth the earth where earhquake originates.

- Epicentere is the point just above the focus on the earth's surface.

2. What is Volcanism ?

ANS - Sudden eruption of hot magma, gases,ash and other material from inside the earth to its surface.

3. How many types Volcanoes ?

ANS - 4 types volcanoes.

         1. Active : Which erupts frequent eg-Mauna loa (Hawaii),Etna (sicily),Vesuvious(Italy),     Stromboli(Mediterranean Sea) .

          2.Dormant: Not erupted for quite sometimes, eg-Fujiyama(Japan), Krakatoa(Indinesia), Barren Island(India).

          3. Extinet : Not erupted for several centuries. eg- Arthur's seat, Edinburgh,scotland.

          4. Ring of Fire : Hundreds of active volcanoes found on the land near the edge of the pacific ocean.

4. What is Tsunami ?

ANS - Large ocean wave that is caused by sudden motion on the ocean floor.Motion could be an earthquake, volcanic eruption or underwater landside.
